Twosome Place, one of South Korea’s largest and most successful café chains, will open its first U.S. outlet in mid-October. Boasting over 1,750 locations in South Korea, Twosome Place has secured a 2,604 square-foot retail space in the Old Town neighborhood of Alexandria, Virginia. The new café will feature 78 seats, with both indoor and outdoor seating available.

In a press release issued on PR Newswire, Jay (Young Joo) Moon, CEO of Twosome Place Korea, said, “Our debut in the Washington region is an important milestone for Twosome Place as we look ahead to future growth in the U.S. We’re excited to introduce American consumers to the café culture we’ve built over the past two decades, one centered on quality, hospitality, and creating a place where guests can gather over exceptional coffee and cake.”

Twosome Place is South Korea’s leading premium café brand. Founded in 2002, the company has seen huge success over its 25-year history. Originally a single storefront in Seoul’s Sinchon neighborhood, Twosome Place rapidly expanded in the wake of increased demand for its coffee and cake concept.

Twosome Place sees its U.S. expansion as low-risk, given the fact that its concept has been tested in Korea – one of the most competitive coffee markets in the world. And thanks to the continued popularity of Korean cultural exports, the brand expects its Korean-inspired coffee drinks and signature cakes to go down well.

The U.S. Twosome Place location will feature bestsellers such as Strawberry Chocolate Cream Cake and Ice Box Cake, alongside specialty drinks created exclusively for the U.S. market. These include Dalgona Cream Top, Black Sesame Latte and Korean Apple Cinnamon Tea. Crucially, Twosome Place also offers savory food throughout the day, including panini and Korean-inspired bowls.

The company has made it clear that it intends to open more cafés in the U.S., with two additional locations already in the works.
