If you haven’t checked it out yet, be sure to take a look at Brad Pitt’s DeLonghi ambassador video. In it, you’ll quickly see how he has taken advantage of the personalized user profiles to save his preferences for brewing the perfect cappuccino on a Dinamica Plus.
There are some slight differences between the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus model I reviewed in Europe and the one for sale in the United States. When applicable, I’ll be sure to point those out today.
My Dinamica Plus fully automatic espresso machine in black bears the number ECAM 370.70.B, which is neither here nor there to United States consumers. In the USA, the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus model number is ECAM 370.95.TI. The TI stands for titanium, which is the color of the Dinamica Plus.

DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Overview
With the introduction of the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus, super automatic espresso machine users in the United States no longer have to be jealous of the LatteCrema milk frothing system on European models. In that sense, the Dinamica Plus is as much about world peace as it is great coffee! The icing on the cake is the newly added touchscreen display that walks users through how to make various barista style drinks.
These features and more make the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus the best mid range super automatic espresso machine on the market.
DeLonghi Dinamica Plus Features
Designing a great fully automatic coffee machine takes a team of people with a lot of understanding and knowledge about coffee, consumers and manufacturing. The design team at DeLonghi did a terrific job with the Dinamica Plus and should be commended on a job well done. Let’s explore the great features they built into this game changing automatic espresso machine.
Touchscreen Display
The 3.5 inch touchscreen display on the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus automatic espresso machine was designed to create an intuitive user experience that’s like using the screen on a smartphone. Overall, it’s a significant improvement over the text screen on the DeLonghi Dinamica.
As you’d expect, following the menu prompts will guide you through various tasks you’ll want to perform such as brewing a latte or descaling the machine.
While I personally prefer the touchscreens on Jura Coffee Makers, I’m confident you’ll be happy with the display on the Dinamica Plus.
Coffee Link App
As part of the need to compete with Jura, remote connectivity through the DeLonghi Coffee Link app was added for the Dinamica Plus. The app uses Bluetooth to communicate with the machine, providing remote access to lots of features.
The DeLonghi Coffee Link app also gives users access to tips and tricks for creating amazing coffee drinks, as well guidance on machine maintenance.
I’m more of a hands on guy myself, but a lot of users will definitely enjoy customizing their user profiles from their iOS or Android device. Imagine how fun it would be to relax with a latte macchiato on your sofa while tweaking your personal recipe for next time.
Conical Burr Grinder
The automatic burr grinder on the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus has 13 grind adjustment levels. Like with all super automatic espresso machines, you should only adjust the grind settings while the coffee grinder is running.
Keep in mind that it takes a few cups before you’re able to see the changes take effect because of the presence of coffee beans in the hopper.
For brewing espresso, you’ll want to set the grinder to level three or four of 13. Thankfully, just like its predecessor, you can get excellent results from the grinder.
I measured the noise levels of the grinder at 70.9 decibels.
LatteCrema Milk Frothing System
The LatteCrema milk frothing system is the number one reason to buy the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus. DeLonghi put a lot of thought into the user friendly design.
For starters, the LatteCrema system has a thermal milk jug. Users can — and should — store milk inside the jug in the refrigerator when not in use.
Then, when it’s time to make a drink that requires milk, simply pop the thermal milk jug to the front of the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus.
The colorful touchscreen display will walk you through the steps to make your desired drink, which will involve making simple adjustments to the knob on the top of the jug.
Drink Recipes
Sixteen drink recipes are programmed into the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus. That’s like having your own digital barista at your fingertips. Cappuccino, latte, macchiato, espresso … you name it! Right at the touch of a button.
User Profiles
Having the freedom to save personal user profiles may seem normal nowadays, but many manufacturers are still catching on to the idea. It’s a no brainer, really. Who wouldn’t want to save their preferred coffee recipe after making all of the tweaks to get it right?
The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus automatic espresso machine will allow you to save three different user profiles. Personally, I would have allowed an infinite number, but three is definitely better than none. At home three kinda makes sense, I guess. But what if someone wants to buy the Dinamica Plus for an office?
If you’re asking me, the limited number of user profiles is a sales pitch for Jura.
Pot Function
A new feature on the Dinamica Plus is the ability to brew up to six cups of coffee in one go using a surge brew function. People who like to host will be especially appreciative of this function. Unlike the limited number of user profiles, the pot function on the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus has positive implications for office settings.
Water Filter
A water filter comes with the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus. Ironically, I’ve read where many users choose not to use the provided filter. This is a choice that will affect the taste of their coffee.
Not using a water filter also exposes the automatic espresso machine to mineral buildup, which will clog and damage the machine.
When you first receive and set up your Dinamica Plus, use the included water hardness test strips to calibrate the machine accordingly.
Then, change the water filter every three months or so, depending on usage.
Removable Water Reservoir
Having a removable water reservoir is a must on any super automatic espresso machine. Not only does it make filling the tank with water easy, but it also allows for more effective cleaning.
I always hate telling people this, but sludge can build up on the walls of a water reservoir rather easily.
Trust me, there’s nothing like sharing this with a friend while enjoying a cup of coffee in their home, only to have them reach over, swipe their finger inside their espresso machine water tank and say, “Gross!”
Cleaning
When it comes to cleaning, DeLonghi has always been customer friendly and doesn’t let us down with the Dinamica Plus either. The water tank, milk container and brew group can be easily removed and rinsed.
Automatic rinsing programs are also available for quick cleaning in between. I find these super convenient!
DeLonghi advertises that you can clean the milk jug and drip tray in the dishwasher. This is probably true for some dishwashers, but definitely feel the inside of these pieces after washing.
You want to be sure no film is building up that will be a pain to clean down the road … not to mention being less sanitary.
Easy Maintenance
Maintaining a super automatic espresso machine is paramount. If you want the machine to last, you’ll need to take care of it.
The guidance provided through the touchscreen display, DeLonghi Coffee Link app, Dinamica Plus user manual and a slew of online videos from DeLonghi make maintaining this machine a breeze.
You’ll need to regularly descale the Dinamica Plus. I recommend using DeLonghi EcoDecalk Descaler. You can pick it up on Amazon for $18.47.
Brewing Coffee and Espresso on the Dinamica Plus
At the end of the day, the main thing any of us want from a super automatic espresso machine is to brew quality coffee and espresso based drinks with ease.
The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus has five aroma levels presented as a bean scale. I adjusted the coffee strength upward to level four, which is only possible because of the numerous adjustment settings provided.
DeLonghi automatic coffee machines generally use very little coffee grinds for the standard settings of their beverages. I find they also use a bit too much water at times. So, I recommend you adjust the water level to match your desired consistency.
The aroma of coffee from the Dinamica Plus was identical to what can be created on the original DeLonghi Dinamica. In both machines, the chocolate notes are brought forward with an impressive sweetness that makes for an aromatic espresso experience.
However, this is less true for coffee. As I mentioned, you’ll notice too much water pretty quickly here. An Americano is, therefore, the better alternative to the normal Long Coffee in the Dinamica Plus. This may affect my impressions of the pot function in the long run.
The coffee temperature is spot on for my tastes, even with the default settings. That said, you can adjust the water temperature as desired.
Milk Foam: Superb Cappuccino and Latte Macchiato
Cappuccino and latte macchiato get an excellent, fine pored hood from the LatteCrema milk system. The milk comes out at a great temperature and enters your latte or cappuccino glass with maximum foam volume when the machine is in the max setting.
You do have to fiddle around a bit in the menu and on the rotary switch until your milk drinks fit the cup height. But this is just part of setting an automatic espresso machine up for your needs.
Whether the milk foam is ultimately suitable for flat white coffee remains to be seen. Even if you add more milk than milk foam to the cup, the cap remains too firm to pass for microfoam. If this was super important to me, I’d certainly test different milks and plant based milk alternatives to see what results I could come up with.
I certainly look forward to DeLonghi improving the LatteCrema system over time but am quite pleased with its performance. You will be too!

DeLonghi Dinamica vs Dinamica Plus
I know many of you are curious how the stands up next to the original Dinamica. The presence of the LatteCrema milk system is a game changer for users in the United States. Though there are some positive things about a milk wand, the freedom to froth milk with minimal effort will open the doors for many people to enjoy barista style drinks at home.
Whipping up a cappuccino or latte macchiato in your kitchen will save both time and money, allowing for a sense of normalcy during a pandemic that’s keeping many people away from coffee shops.
Having a touch screen and Coffee Link App to walk you through everything makes life easier, especially if you’re new to home barista life.
The pot function is also an added feature of the Dinamica Plus that’s not available on the Dinamica.
The question that you’ll have to contend with is when to buy the Dinamica Plus because of intermittent availability, brought on by supply chain issues.
TrueBrew Over Ice technology is not part of the Dinamica like it is on the Dinamica Plus. Other than that and the above mentioned features, the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus and Dinamica are the same.

However, if you do own a Dinamica or other automatic espresso machine, you’ll need to ask yourself whether the upgrade is worth it. In my view, it all boils down to the automatic milk frothing system.
If you have a machine that you love that has an automatic milk frother, either stick with that until it’s time for a replacement or gift someone your current machine and make the upgrade.
I do hold that super automatic espresso machines like the Jura Z6 or Jura E8 are superior to the Dinamica Plus, but these are also considerably more expensive. The DeLonghi Dinamica Plus is the best mid range automatic espresso machine available at the moment.
Do you have the De’Longhi Dinamica Plus in your kitchen or office? Do you use the De’Longhi Coffee Link app or do you prefer to stand at the machine for your perfect latte? I look forward to your comments!
