A while back, I posted my list of the best Jura espresso machines for 2022. In that, I briefly mentioned the Jura GIGA W3, but didn’t give it the attention it deserves.
A while back, I posted my list of the best Jura espresso machines for 2022. In that, I briefly mentioned the Jura GIGA W3, but didn’t give it the attention it deserves.
Thankfully, since then, I’ve had more time to study and think about this machine. So, it’s high time I put together a Jura GIGA W3 review and let you know what I’ve discovered about this commercial grade bad boy. Don’t ya think?

Jura GIGA W3 Coffee Machine Overview
The Jura GIGA W3 professional coffee maker is a beast of an automatic coffee machine. It’s sort of the commercial version of the GIGA 6. The difference between them is you trade off some of the creature comforts for exceptional throughput.
The GIGA W3 is currently available on Amazon for $4,674.99. If you take into account that it’s rated to brew over 100 coffees a day, the customizations and the variety of drinks available, it’s easy to see the value it could bring to a small to medium sized office.
It’s also one of the few machines that can brew two milk based specialty coffees at once. You know, for those Mondays when you need one in each hand to get your day going!
Speaking of specialty coffee, the GIGA W3 has an impressive 31 options to choose from, and 12 barista inspired recipes programmed and ready to go at the touch of a button. You can choose anything from a latte macchiato to a flat white, to a ristretto or a full cuppa joe; this machine has it all.
Jura GIGA W3 Review: First Impressions
Jura is known for its quality and precision craftsmanship, and the GIGA W3 professional espresso maker is no exception. Of course, it has the stunning good looks that Jura is known for. The housing is made from a combination of plastic and aluminum that will look great in any modern setting.
With that said, this machine is massive. You’ll need a large area to set it up. The size, however, is a fair trade off for the number of drinks the GIGA W3 can make. If you’re a huge fan of variety, this is definitely your dream Jura espresso maker.
Also, I love that this particular model has two thermoblock heaters and an adjustable air intake for the best milk frothing ever.
The brew group is not removable, as is the norm with Jura coffee makers, but there are several cleaning programs to keep the machine in top shape and your coffee tasting great.
Actually, the lack of a removable brew group used to really freak me out. So, I used a separate Jura coffee maker for a year and then disassembled it. To my surprise, Jura’s claims were valid! Their design does an amazing job at keeping the internal workings of the machine clean, though I do recommend you take in for a quick cleaning every couple of years. Doing so will prolong the life of your machine.
Jura GIGA W3 Professional Features
Lets take a deeper look at the features that surfaced during my Jura GIGA W3 review. I think you’ll be happy with all of the bells and whistles the designers included.
So, let’s talk about colors. There’s really only one choice, as with most commercial style machines, and that’s the classic silver and black look. Which is perfectly okay, since that combination tends to go with pretty much any decor.
I checked out the measurements, and you’ll need a space about the size of a two by two grid of copy paper to comfortably situate it. It’s pretty tall too, a whopping 21.7 in (55.1 cm). So, you may have issues getting it to sit comfortably under your kitchen cabinets. It’s best suited to a dedicated coffee bar area, and what an addition it would be!
Not only does the GIGA W3 Professional espresso machine pump out some top notch drinks, but the user experience is equally as slick. Choose your drink from a large full color TFT display, which you can scroll through easily with the rotary switch on top of the machine.
At first, I felt like I would want the TFT display to be a touch screen instead. But then I realized that buttons are the way to go, especially for a machine that’s engineered for heavy usage. The intuitive operation of the rotary switch is nice, too. It’s a breeze to choose your favorite drink and easy to customize to your liking.
In keeping with the beast like size of this machine, the bean hopper on the GIGA W3 is also huge. I’m talking about a whole bag of beans at once. The hopper can hold up to 2.2 lbs (1 kg), so when you add beans at setup, you’ll never have to fill it again!
Just kidding, of course. You’ll be filling this machine with fresh beans all the time and might even wonder if the bean hopper has a black hole built in.
All jokes aside, though, if you have that much coffee in your hopper and you can’t drink it fast enough, you run the risk of the beans degrading. In turn, that will affect the taste and your ability to make that perfect cup of joe.
Luckily, the aroma preservation cover helps to seal in the freshness so you have a little longer to get through all that coffee.
One key feature of the W3 is the professional high performance grinder. According to Jura, they have it positioned at such an angle, that it speeds up grinding times while ensuring even and consistent grounds. Plus, it’s made of ceramic, so it’s much quieter than your run of the mill steel grinder.
Honestly, I’m a little skeptical when manufacturers make claims, such as with this angled grinder. However, doubting Jura in the past lead me to a slice of humble pie, so I have confidence in what they’re saying.
Of course, if you have a monster sized hopper, you’re going to want a water reservoir to match. And Jura did not disappoint with the GIGA W3’s swimming pool of a water tank. It holds a whopping 1.32 gallons (5 liters) of water, so you can go a long time without refilling.
That said, I recommend you regularly clean your water tank and allow it ample time to dry. That way, you won’t grow sludge on the inside of the reservoir. Yuck!
Speaking of water lines, the Jura GIGA W3 professional espresso machine comes with Jura’s CLEARYL water filter, which I wholeheartedly recommend you install on initial setup.
There’s two reasons for this: your coffee is only as good as the water you use, and the CLEARYL filter prevents limescale from building up inside the machine.
What that means is you no longer would need to descale your automatic coffee machine. As long as you run the cleaning cycles when the notifications pop up, descaling is a thing of the past … well, assuming you change the filter on time, that is.
Thermoblock Heating System
To get that perfect cup of coffee, you need something equally as impressive to heat up all that fresh water. So it comes as no surprise that there’s a dual boiler Thermoblock Heating System inside this Jura coffee machine.
In terms of performance, that means there’s less time between you and the hot water you need for your espresso, or the steam for that perfect milk froth. And the Jura W3 is super fast when it comes to brewing coffees.
And brew specialty coffee it does! Forty three, to be exact, including small pots of coffee. Of course, it’s not a carafe like you’re picturing. It’s more along the lines of 12 to 16 oz (355 to 473 ml); like the mug of coffee you would pour up for a day full of meetings.
One of the things I really like about this particular Jura super automatic espresso machine is that it can brew two milk based coffee drinks at the same time, which is hard to find in the specialty coffee machine world. And thanks to the Thermoblock technology, it can do it in under two minutes.
I can also appreciate the twelve barista recipes that are programmed into the machine. It’s a bit of fun to follow the step by step instructions and end up with a professional quality Viennese or Irish cream coffee. There’s even a recipe for a mango lassi if you’re feeling adventurous.
Also, you can choose to customize each and every one of those forty three drinks, from coffee strength down to how much milk you like in your latte macchiato.
Incidentally, you can adjust both the coffee and hot water spouts which is pretty standard on a Jura fully automatic espresso machine. You can lower both to 2.8 in (7.1 cm), or lift them as high as 6.3 in (16 cm) to fit some of the smaller travel cups or your “I have 5 meetings this morning” coffee mug.
How to Use the Jura GIGA W3 Coffee Machine
So, how do you use this Jura espresso machine? Let’s do a quick rundown on what it takes to get you sipping your first flat white.
First, fill the water tank and bean hopper, making sure the aroma preservation cover is nice and snug.
There are several drinks that are available on the start screen, but the flat white isn’t one of them. So, to find it, give the rotary switch a spin until it comes up. Don’t forget to set up a milk carafe and attach the milk pipe to the system. Then, press the switch once to prepare your drink. Or, you can press twice for two. It’s as easy as that!
Jura GIGA W3 Coffee Machine Cleaning
Cleaning is a snap if you set up your GIGA W3 with the CLEARYL water filter. I applaud Jura for making machine maintenance as easy as possible. I meean, who wants to be cleaning their coffee maker all day?
There are a few cleaning programs you can run to keep your Jura espresso maker in top shape. A notification will pop up on the TFT display when it’s time to clean the machine. All that’s needed is a push of the button and to follow the instructions on screen.
If you do install the CLEARYL filter when you set up the machine for the first time, Jura says there’s no need to descale the GIGA W3. However, there are instructions available in the user manual to do this, just in case it does need to be done. Or, like I mentioned earlier, in case you delay changing the filter once prompted.
Jura GIGA W3 Milk Foam
Getting back to the milk for milk based drinks, you’ll find no better milk system than what’s offered in a Jura fully automatic espresso maker. The GIGA W3 really brings its A game with the option to dispense hot milk, milk foam or both on the fly. You can choose the foam and milk volume of your drink, and the W3 will swap mid pour to craft the perfect cappuccino or latte macchiato.
The milk frother automatically creates the perfect density of milk foam thanks to the adjustable air intake. In contrast, other machines tend to have just one setting for milk froth so the density stays the same drink to drink. To be able to match the proper milk texture for each specialty coffee is a real win for this machine.
Jura GIGA W3 Accessories
There’s a few accessories you can pick up that would greatly enhance your overall Jura coffee maker experience.
Jura Cool Control milk coolers are one option. These are carafes that sit next to the machine and keep your milk cold and ready to go without you having to get it from the fridge every time you want a milk based drink.
Another option is a Jura cup warmer. These also sit next to your machine and keep your cups at the perfect temperature, so you can brew your coffee without worrying about a temperature dip when it hits the cup.

Jura GIGA W3 vs Other Super Automatics
Despite the fact that the GIGA W3 is considered a commercial use machine, it’s a great option if you work from home and drink a metric ton of coffee during the day. So, how do other super automatic coffee makers stack up against this workhorse? I always like to add a comparison to similar machines to help shoppers, and this Jura GIGA W3 review is no exception. Let’s take a look at how the GIGA W3 measures up.
Jura GIGA W3 Professional vs Jura GIGA 6
It surprises me that even though the $4,674.99Jura GIGA W3 and the $5,979.00Jura GIGA 6 both boast the same GIGA technology, one is for home use while the other is commercial grade. Both of these machines can surely handle heavy use and have lots of options for even the pickiest of coffee drinkers.
Because the GIGA 6 is a home machine, though, its bean and water capacity are almost exactly half of what the GIGA W3 can hold. The GIGA 6 also makes only about half of the drinks available on the W3, but has two ceramic grinders. Go figure!
Jura GIGA W3 vs DeLonghi Eletta
Aside from the obvious differences in capacity, the DeLonghi Eletta sports an integrated carafe style milk system, in contrast to the GIGA W3’s cappuccinatore. It also has a much smaller price tag, too, coming in at $2,199.95 on Amazon.
The Eletta loses a point for having a text display, instead of a full color TFT display like the W3 though. And while it’s a great machine on its own, it doesn’t come close to the variety of drinks offered by either Jura automatic coffee machine I mentioned above.
Jura GIGA W3 vs DeLonghi Dinamica Plus
The main difference between the GIGA W3 and the DeLonghi Dinamica Plus, besides capacity and milk system, is the price. The Dinamica Plus is the cheapest of our comparisons at $1,699.95 compared to the GIGA W3’s hefty $4,674.99.
The Dinamica Plus boasts a pot function, too, just like the W3 but DeLonghi does it right by brewing a 6 cup volume. Another thing that awards the Dinamica Plus a point is the thirteen grind settings, versus only five in the Jura GIGA W3.
Realistically, though, these two machines are for completely different environments and lifestyles. If you’re needing the throughput of a commercial grade machine, you probably wouldn’t consider the Dinamica Plus, even though it’s an amazing machine for the price.

Verdict: Jura GIGA W3 Professional Review
In short, the Jura GIGA W3 professional coffee maker is definitely a hit to the wallet, but delivers great quality drinks and superior performance at the touch of a button. Forty three of them, to be exact. You really can’t beat that kind of variety in a JURA machine.
Not only that, but the large bean, water and ground capacity offers convenience that you can’t usually get with machines built for home use. You just have to take into account if you can go through all those beans while they’re still fresh!
The Jura GIGA W3 makes an amazing addition to a small office setting or in a house with a large coffee loving family. Add in the optional direct water line installation and it’s especially suited to people who like maximum coffee with a minimal amount of effort. Bear in mind, though, that this machine isn’t rated for coffee shop use.
Would you love the satisfaction of having your own little coffee shop in the comfort of your kitchen or breakroom? Let’s be honest, who wouldn’t enjoy that level of luxury, especially if you work from home.

Jura GIGA W3 Coffee Machine FAQ
There are a couple of reasons why the Jura GIGA W3 is expensive. Firstly, it’s a commercial grade machine. It’s made for pumping out coffees all day long. Secondly, you have 43 choices when it comes to coffee drinks, and then each of those can be customized to your taste. And thirdly, Jura coffee machines are some of the best built in the coffee industry.
According to Jura’s website, the Jura GIGA W3 is compatible with the J.O.E app using the Smart Connect Transmitter that’s sold separately.
To set up your GIGA W3 professional coffee maker, find a clear area with room for the machine’s ventilation system. Then, remove the water tank, rinse it, fill it, reinsert the tank and close the cover. Next, fill the bean hopper.
Once that’s done, turn the machine on and follow the instructions on the display. You can choose between full setup or a quick installation mode, but I recommend the full installation option as it includes programmability and water filter installation.
Yes, you can brew a pot of coffee on the Jura GIGA W3, although what Jura considers a pot is about 12 oz of coffee. If that’s the case, then I have a pot sized mug. But hey, there’s no reason why you can’t brew a double amount if you need more for a larger container!
For daily maintenance, empty and rinse both the drip tray and the coffee grounds container. Also, pull off the milk pipe and dismantle the dual spout and give them a quick wash by hand. Finally, wipe down any surface dirt. That’s about it for the manual stuff. Then, you can run a pre-programmed cleaning cycle by following the prompts on the display.
In terms of descaling, it’s not necessary if you went through the full installation during the first time set up and installed and activated the CLEARYL filter. Otherwise, you’ll have to run the descaling program when the machine prompts you.
It’s much quieter than some other automatic coffee machines (I’m looking at you, Phillips 3200), thanks to its professional high performance grinder. Keep in mind that while it’s quieter, it’s not silent since it still has to crush all those delicious beans. However, it’s definitely not loud enough to hurt your ears.
The Jura GIGA W3 makes amazing espresso. Jura coffee makers are some of the best machines on the market, and you’ll be hard pressed to find another high end coffee maker that can match the W3’s barista quality drinks.
The Jura GIGA W3 Professional coffee maker is no small machine. That’s because it’s built for knocking out over one hundred coffees a day.
But, if you and your family are power coffee drinkers, you’ll need about 284 sq in (1832 sq cm) for the footprint and 24 inches (60 cm) clearance for the top.
If you’re still not sure, you can measure your preferred spot by laying out a two by two grid of copy paper.
