With that in mind, I’ve decided to take a first look at the Timemore Fish Smart Electric Coffee Kettle to see if it can compete. After all, Timemore has been making a name for itself in the specialty coffee industry by releasing some very convincing manual brewing gear. So, without further ado, let’s get into it!

Overview: Timemore Fish Electric Kettle Review
As I mentioned above, Timemore produces a wide range of highly regarded manual brewing coffee gear. In fact, if you’ve checked out my Timemore C3 review, you’ll know it’s one of the best manual coffee grinders I’ve tested. So, I have high hopes for the Timemore Fish Smart Electric Kettle, which retails for $236.50.
Sure, that might seem like a lot for a kettle, but it’s actually relatively affordable when you consider models from competitor brands. Besides, this is no ordinary electric kettle. For starters, the Timemore Fish is beautiful to behold, featuring a sleek, minimalist design. What’s more, this gooseneck kettle is aimed at true coffee nerds – those for whom precision pouring and accurate temperature control are non-negotiables.
While Timemore hasn’t exactly reinvented the wheel with the Fish kettle, it has produced an affordable alternative to the pricey boutique kettles on the market. And from what I can gather, the Timemore Fish has all the features you’ll need for geeking out on pour-over coffee brewing.

Speaking of features, let’s continue this Timemore Fish Electric Kettle review by digging into what makes this smart electric kettle worth considering.
Build Quality and Design
As we’ve already established, the Timemore Fish kettle in Matte Black is a very attractive piece of kit. What’s more, it features a sturdy handle with a nice copper accent. From what I can gather, the kettle is well made, with 304 food-grade stainless steel used throughout. And although the Timemore Fish is compact and lightweight, it does have a rather limited 20.3-ounce (600-milliliter) capacity.
User Interface
In keeping with the overall aesthetic, the Timemore kettle’s user interface is understated and minimalist.
You’ll find all controls on the base, comprising an on/off button at the rear as well as two touch buttons on top. Here, you’ll also see an LED display showing actual temperature and target temperature. However, what’s really cool is the unique slider that allows you to adjust the temperature in one-degree increments by sliding your finger across the scale.
Incidentally, the Timemore Fish Electric Kettle earns its “smart” stripes by allowing you to connect to the Timemore app via Bluetooth or WiFi. From the app, you’re able to monitor and adjust the kettle’s temperature settings and other functions.
Fast Heating
While I haven’t yet tested the Timemore Fish Smart Electric Kettle, I’ve heard that its heat time is rather impressive. Equipped with a powerful 1000W heater, the Timemore Fish kettle can reportedly heat 17 ounces (500 milliliters) of water to 205 degrees Fahrenheit (96 degrees Celsius) in under four minutes.
Now, that may not be as impressive as the Fellow Stagg EKG, but it means the Fish kettle is no slouch. Besides, the manufacturer does offer a more powerful model with a larger capacity if you’re in a hurry!
Advanced Temperature Control
As you probably already know, using water at the correct temperature is of the utmost importance when you’re brewing coffee. What’s more, you’ll want to be able to adjust the temperature based on the coffee beans you’re using. For example, beans with a light coffee roast profile require hotter water than dark roast beans for optimal extraction.
With all that in mind, you can rest assured that the Timemore Fish Electric Kettle has you covered. Thanks to its built-in controller, you can program the kettle to reach any target temperature from 104-212 degrees Fahrenheit (40-100 degrees Celsius). And once you’ve done that, the Fish kettle will show you the actual water temperature as it’s heating.
Keep Warm Function
Not all electric kettles feature a keep warm function, so I’m very happy to see it here. It’s really very simple – when the kettle has heated water to your target temperature, you can use the Hold mode to keep it there. Oh, and in case you were wondering, the Timemore Fish kettle is equipped with boil-dry protection, meaning the kettle will automatically shut off if no water is detected.
Precision Pouring
It’s all very well to have a gooseneck kettle with a bunch of fancy features, but if it doesn’t perform when you need it to, what’s the point? Fortunately, the Timemore Fish kettle appears to be the real deal in terms of its gooseneck spout.
As it happens, Timemore has equipped the kettle with its own patented spout design, which includes a cool filtration system to help maintain a steady and vertical flow. To be honest, I’d say this is one of the best gooseneck spout designs I’ve seen. Plus, it seems ideal for beginners who are learning how to make pour over.
How to Use the Timemore Fish Smart Electric Coffee Kettle: Get the Best Results
Using the Timemore Fish Smart Electric Kettle is very straightforward, so I can give you a rundown of what to expect. Start by adding filtered water to the kettle then replacing the lid. Next, place the kettle on its base before hitting the power switch.
At this stage, you can either press and hold the button on the left to set the kettle to boil, or use the slider to set your target temp. Then, press the button on the right side to start the heating process.
You’ll see a little red light showing that the kettle is heating, and once it’s at your desired temperature, you can use the hold function to keep it there.
How to Clean the Timemore Fish Kettle
You’ll be happy to hear that there’s very little to worry about when it comes to cleaning the Timemore Fish kettle. And if you’re the type to only use the best water for coffee in your kettle, you’ll seldom need to descale the thing.
Still, make sure to keep an eye on what’s happening inside the kettle. If you see any limescale buildup, remove it by simply boiling a mix of water and white vinegar.
Elsewhere, keep your Timemore Fish Smart Kettle looking its best by wiping down the exterior with a damp cloth. See, I told you there wasn’t much to worry about!

Timemore Fish Kettle vs Fellow Stagg EKG
Another minimalist beauty, the Fellow Stagg EKG Kettle won me over during my testing. Then again, for $N/A, this thing had to impress!
The Fellow Stagg is a more premium pour over kettle than the Timemore Fish, and has a more powerful heater. Plus, there’s also a handy timer function included. Still, unless you really want the best kettle out there, the Timemore Fish will likely provide a similar level of performance.

Timemore Fish Kettle vs Brewista Artisan
The Brewista Artisan Electric Gooseneck Kettle has a different aesthetic than both the Fellow and Timemore kettles. However, this is one of the most highly regarded models on the market.
It’s easy to see why – this 34-ounce (1-liter) capacity beauty has all the features you’d expect, including precision temperature control, a hold function and a count-up timer. Costing $159.99, the Brewista Artisan is another pricey kettle. Still, this is definitely a case of getting what you pay for.
