And while this isn’t necessarily the best coffee grinder for home use, you might want to consider the Drogheria if you’re looking for a commercial grinder. Trust me, this rugged and powerful grinder will be a valuable addition to any cafe or coffee roaster, thanks to its speed and performance.

Build Quality

As I’ve mentioned a couple of times in this Eureka Drogheria review, the grinder has a very durable metal chassis. What’s more, all the Drogheria’s components are tough enough to withstand the rigors of high-volume environments

I particularly appreciate the thought Eureka has put into the design of the both grind adjustment mechanism and the integrated bag clip. It goes to show that the manufacturer recognizes the need for efficiency and ease of use.

Controls

While the best espresso grinders often feature complex controls and programmable functions, the Eureka Drogheria has been designed to quickly grind larger batches of coffee. To that end, the Drogheria’s controls are very simple and straightforward.

On the side of the grinder there’s a burly power switch. And below the bean hopper you’ll find Eureka’s “Easy Setting” grind adjustment system. This adjustment dial is remarkably intuitive, and allows the user to quickly jump between settings. Best of all, the stepless system offers a near infinite number of grind settings.

How Loud Is the Eureka Drogheria During Operation?

Even with its 750-watt motor, the Eureka Drogheria has been engineered to be on the quieter side. Well, for a commercial grinder, that is. As it happens, it’s a lot easier to produce a “quiet” burr grinder for home use, seeing as everything is smaller. For example, the Eureka Mignon Silenzio produces around 70 dbA during operation, which is very impressive for a machine that has to grind things up.

Look, you’re definitely going to know that the Eureka Drogheria is running, but that’s par for the course when you’re using such a powerful grinder. Plus, compared to other commercial grinders it’s going to be quieter and less grating.

What’s the Verdict on Grind Quality and Consistency?

Although the Eureka Drogheria is intended as a bulk coffee grinder, that doesn’t mean you’ll sacrifice grind quality and consistency. Rather, this impressive commercial coffee grinder produces excellent results.

As I’ve already mentioned, the Eureka Drogheria can grind super fine for brew methods like Turkish, as well as very coarse for French press and cold brew. With that said, you’ll get the best results when you’re grinding for espresso and drip coffee.

Thanks to those huge 85mm flat burrs, you can expect a very uniform particle size when you’re grinding at finer and medium settings. And as I’m sure you know, the more uniform the particle size, the more well-balanced the extraction.

With all that said, the Eureka Drogheria will start to suffer slightly at the coarser end of the coffee grind size spectrum. So, grinding for French press or cold brew will result in diminished particle uniformity.

How Do You Master the Grind Settings for Ultimate Precision?

Fortunately, learning how to master the grind settings on the Eureka Drogheria is a piece of cake. Thanks to the manufacturer’s ingenious tuning wheel, it’s very easy to use the Stepless Micrometric Adjustment System. What’s more, suggested grind settings for different coffee brewing methods are clearly labeled to help you dial in.

The tuning wheel is essentially a large dial located below the bean hopper. I absolutely love this system, because it’s so darn intuitive and allows infinite and precise control over the grind size. All you need to do is turn the dial and line up the metal marker with your preferred grind setting.

At this point I should remind you to only make changes when the grinder is running – that’ll prevent the burrs from locking up.

Cleaning the Eureka Drogheria is a very straightforward process, and you shouldn’t have to spend much time fussing over the thing. Still, regular maintenance is key to the performance and longevity of your grinder, so make sure to keep the Drogheria in tip top condition.

I’d recommend using a brush to clean the grinding chute, and you can use the spring-loaded knocker to help remove trapped grounds. As for the bean hopper, make sure to wipe it out on a regular basis to prevent coffee oils building up in there.

Once every couple of weeks, I’d recommend cleaning the burrs and burr chamber. To do so, remove the screws holding the top burr in place. Then you can remove the top burr and brush it off. While you’re at it, consider using a vacuum to remove dust and debris from the burr chamber. Once you’re done, replace the top burr and your grind setting will be right where you left it.
