Have you ever found yourself thinking that making coffee just takes a few minutes too long? Well the Smart Cosori Gooseneck Kettle may be the answer to your problems!

I don’t want to give you too many spoilers so early in my Cosori gooseneck kettle review, but this one feels important! In my eyes, the main selling point for this electric kettle is the ability to program it to turn on at a certain time.

Have I piqued your interest? Come along as I jump into this initial review on the super-smart Cosori electric kettle!

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle Review Overview

The Cosori Smart Electric Gooseneck Kettle is a great option for an electric kettle. It’s affordable, versatile and will look pretty in a modern kitchen.

This is definitely a kettle for pour over coffee, hence the gooseneck. However, it’s also great for tea! Pre-programmed temperature settings for green tea, oolong tea, black tea and coffee enable you to quickly heat water to your desired temperature.

And when I say quickly, I mean it! The kettle’s 1200-watt heating element can give you boiling water within five minutes.

If you connect your kettle to the VeSync app you get even more features. These include precise temperature control, a delayed start setting and an extended hold function.

Plus, you get all these features for only $77.99! I’d say that’s good value for money. Actually, I’ve already said it; I considered the Cosori gooseneck kettle the best value option in my guide to gooseneck kettles.

If you don’t want all these fancy features, you can get the Cosori Original Gooseneck Kettle instead. It’s got the same auto off and boil dry protection, stainless steel build, temperature settings and hold mode as the Smart model.

However, at $69.99 the Cosori Original electric gooseneck kettle is only a few bucks cheaper than the Smart model. Honestly, it seems worth it to spend a bit more for the extra features.

Whichever model you get, this sleek gooseneck kettle is made of food grade stainless steel with a durable plastic base. You can even choose between two colors: Matte Black and Stainless Steel.

Cosori Electric Gooseneck Kettle Features

If you’re still curious about this electric gooseneck kettle after that brief overview, I’m about to break it down for you further. Let’s do this!

Size and Design

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle Size and Design

The Cosori Electric Gooseneck has a sleek and durable stainless steel body. The handle definitely looks like a Fellow Stagg copycat, but I’ll let it slide.

A plastic base features buttons for different brew settings. I’ll get to those in a minute. While this design feature doesn’t make for the nicest aesthetic, it’s certainly functional. What’s more, a 3-foot cord means this kettle should fit in most kitchens.

This Cosori gooseneck kettle has a max capacity of 27 ounces (800 milliliters). Though that’s a tad limited for pour over, it’ll work. You just may not have enough water leftover to preheat your coffee mug.

The biggest design flaw in my eyes is the lack of a thermometer on the kettle itself. If you want to see the water temperature, you’ll need to download the app. I’m already not a fan of using my phone as a coffee bar accessory, so I could see myself finding this pretty annoying.

Stainless Steel Construction

As I mentioned, this Cosori gooseneck kettle features food-grade stainless steel construction. This means the kettle is durable and has great heat retention. Of course, the metal body will get quite hot, so you’ll want to be careful not to burn yourself.

Fortunately, the handle angles away from the body of the kettle to keep your hand safe.

Gooseneck Spout

What can I say about the Cosori’s gooseneck spout, other than that it works?

For most people, the shape of the spout will serve you well. However, if you’re obsessive about your flow rate when making pour over you may be disappointed by the Cosori’s precision and control.

Again, this is an initial review so I haven’t yet had the chance to put this electric gooseneck kettle through the rigors of my pour over routine. Still, I plan to test this kettle’s flow rate capabilities, so I’ll get back to you on this point!

User Interface

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle User Interface

Sometimes, coffee gadgets with techy features can have complicated user interfaces. Fortunately this is not the case with the Smart Cosori Electric Gooseneck Kettle.

It’s easy to use and access all of its features. That said, you will have to download an app to take the greatest advantage of this smart electric kettle. More on that in a bit.

The pre-programmed temperature settings are clearly marked on the base of the kettle. You can choose between four presets:

  • Green tea – 180 degrees Fahrenheit (82 degrees Celsius)

  • Oolong tea – 195 degrees Fahrenheit (90 degrees Celsius)

  • Coffee – 205 degrees Fahrenheit (96 degrees Celsius)

  • Black tea / Boiling water – 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degrees Celsius)

We can debate whether these brewing temperatures are actually suitable for these beverages, but that’s another article! The point is, Cosori offers these presets for convenience. Oh, and unlike some competitors (I’m looking at you, Bonavita) this Cosori gooseneck kettle beeps when it’s done heating.

It’s important to note that Fahrenheit is the only unit of measurement on the kettle. If you’re a Celsius person, you may want to have a calculator on hand.

Also present on the base of this electric gooseneck kettle is a button for the hold function, which I’ll explain below, and the MyBrew function. In order to use the MyBrew function, however, you’ll first need to customize it in the app.

There’s also a baby formula mode on this kettle, which is a nice and unexpected touch! Baby formula mode brings water to a boil, and then the kettle beeps when the water cools to a baby-friendly temperature.

Again, you’ll need to use the app in order to access this mode. And since you can only connect one phone via Bluetooth, this could be annoying for a multi-person household.

Temperature Control

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle Temperature Control

Temperature control is a mainstay in the best gooseneck kettles on the market today. So, it’s no wonder that Cosori offers precise, single-degree temperature control to maintain its competitive edge!

The annoying bit, of course, is that you have to use the app in order to fully utilize this feature. But the app does allow you to go from 84 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius) and boiling water at 212 degrees Fahrenheit (100 degrees Celsius).

The low end of that range is much lower than I’m used to seeing in electric gooseneck kettles. I could see those temperatures being useful for baby formula or even making bread.

What’s more, Cosori offers a hold function to keep your water at a given temperature. The factory preset on the kettle’s base only allows for a 30 minute hold time, but when you use the app the max hold time increases to 60 minutes. I guess they really want you to use the app!

VeSync App

At first I thought a gooseneck kettle with an app and Bluetooth functionality was kind of overkill. I mean, can’t we have just a few minutes away from our phones while we make coffee?

Plus, I don’t love that you need to make a mandatory account in order to use the app. But after researching the perks of Cosori’s VeSync app, I can see how these extra features could be useful.

The VeSync App allows you to connect to your Cosori Smart Electric Gooseneck Kettle via Bluetooth. What’s more, the app gives you loads of information and settings that the kettle itself doesn’t offer.

For starters, the app allows you to access the aforementioned Baby Formula mode and MyBrew mode.

The VeSync App also allows you to program the kettle to turn on up to 12 hours before you’ll need it. Of course, you’ll have to fill it with water ahead of time. The app even shows you the real-time temperature of your water as it heats up!

Really, this kettle is for anyone who would benefit from having an extra few minutes in their morning routine.

How to Use the Cosori Gooseneck Kettle

Using the Cosori electric gooseneck kettle is pretty straightforward. You can thank an intuitive design and user interface for that.

First you’ll have to fill it with water, of course. If you’re making pour over coffee or French press, you can hit either the coffee button or boil button, depending on your preference. Either way you’ll have hot water in 5 minutes or less.

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle How to Use

Five minutes can whizz by if you still need to fold your coffee filter, break out your hand grinder and do some Zen gardening in your coffee grounds. So, you can press the hold button at any time to keep the water at its current temperature until you’re ready to brew.

If none of the preset temperatures suit your fancy or you need to hold the water temp for more than thirty minutes, you’ll have to pull out your phone and use the VeSync app.

Using the app, you can customize your MyBrew temperature, program a later start time or even activated baby formula mode.

If you’re still scratching your head on how to use the Cosori gooseneck kettle, I’ll give you a more relatable scenario.

Picture this: it’s 5 a.m., you just woke up and you need to leave for work in 20 minutes. Fortunately, you already used the VeSync app to program your kettle to turn on at the exact time your alarm went off. That means you have just enough time to stumble into your kitchen and toss your coffee beans into a burr grinder.

By the time you’ve got ground coffee and you’ve set up your pour over dripper, the Cosori will give you a little beep to let you know that your water is ready. Now it’s time to brew up soma java!

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle Cleaning

Cleaning this Cosori gooseneck kettle is as easy as it is to use the thing.

Prevention is key here. I recommend always using filtered water for your coffee setup. This ensures that your brews will be clean and delicious. Plus, filtered water will prevent limescale or calcium buildup in your kettle.

You can also prevent limescale buildup by allowing the kettle to air-dry between uses.

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle Cleaning

Still, even with filtered water you’ll eventually get some build-up in your kettle. Fortunately, this is pretty easy to clean.

All you need to clean a gooseneck kettle is distilled white vinegar, water and a bit of time.

To clean your electric gooseneck kettle, boil water with vinegar and let it soak in your kettle for a few minutes. Then, scrub the buildup away with a clean kitchen sponge. You can use a pipe-cleaner to clean out the gooseneck itself.

If you’ve ever cleaned and descaled a drip coffee maker, this process should be pretty familiar. When you’re done cleaning your Cosori kettle, just rinse it out a few times to get any vinegar smell out. I mean, nobody wants vinegar as a tasting note in their cup of joe!

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle vs Fellow Stagg EKG

Fellow Kettle Overview

Comparing the Cosori Smart Electric Gooseneck Kettle with the Fellow Stagg EKG feels like a no-brainer.

You know I’m a Fellow fanatic, and I really see the Stagg EKG as the pinnacle of home coffee gear. So I’m always curious to see if another gooseneck kettle can stand up to the Stagg!

In terms of style, the Cosori kettle is pretty on par with the Stagg. It all comes down to aesthetic preferences here. The Fellow kettle has a more boxy style, while the Cosori kettle is quite pear shaped.

The Stagg has a clear win in my book for its ergonomic design. In particular, its weighted handle helps counterbalance your pour, encouraging a steadier flow rate.

While the handle on the Cosori kettle looks suspiciously similar to the handle on the Stagg, Cosori’s handle is not counterbalanced.

As far as user interfaces go, I prefer the Stagg’s slimmed-down design. The Cosori kettle has a few too many buttons for my preference. I also like that you don’t need a smartphone to access the Stagg’s features.

What’s more, both the Cosori kettle and the Stagg EKG offer precise temperature control and a hold function. However, the Stagg EKG kettle stands apart for offering a timer function, which is super useful for pour over preparation.

Still, if you opt for the Cosori Electric Gooseneck Kettle you can always just use your phone or get a coffee scale with a built-in timer. And the Cosori offers features that the Stagg doesn’t, like baby formula mode and the ability to delay the kettle’s start time.

Since these two kettles offer about the same quantity of special features, it is surprising that the Cosori kettle costs about half the Stagg’s $164.00 asking price.

Verdict: Cosori Electric Gooseneck Kettle

Packed with features

Cosori Smart Electric Gooseneck Kettle

A sophisticated kettle for busy folks

Great value

Sleek design

Tons of features

Useful app

Limited capacity

Now that I’ve finished my initial review of the Cosori Electric Gooseneck Kettle, I’m beginning to think I’d actually like using it.

However, a big downside for me is the reliance on the app. I prefer to put my phone away when I’m making coffee – it’s a peaceful morning ritual for me!

Still, the extra features on the app could be useful for busy folks, particularly if they plan to use the baby formula mode. That really is a nice touch.

This kettle would also be great for tea lovers, since it’s got those convenient pre-set temperature options. What’s more, this kettle is quite affordable, especially considering all of the features it offers.

Ultimately, I won’t be getting rid of my Stagg EKG anytime soon, but I could certainly make room for the Cosori Smart Electric Gooseneck Kettle on my home coffee bar.

Cosori Gooseneck Kettle FAQ

Yes, Cosori is a good brand for an electric kettle!

If you’re making pour over coffee, a gooseneck kettle is 100% worth it! It offers precision and control when pouring, which means a better-tasting brew.

Cosori electric kettles are made in China.

I wouldn’t recommend making tea inside of the kettle, since it’ll be hard to clean tea flavors out of the kettle. That said, you can certainly use the kettle to make tea in another vessel.
